Long Distance Family Oral History

by Ersula Odom on 09/10/11

Family miles away? No problem. Free conference call services(see sidebar for examples) can be used for something other than business.

Have you ever been on the phone with a beloved relative and wished you could be there to record that person. You would love nothing better than to save all of those wonderful stories that you're hearing.

Well you can. Arrange for that person and maybe a couple of other key people to have a group call either by phone or computer, depending on the expertise of the people involved. Record the session. download to your computer.

Don't forget to give the file a meaningful name like "Aunt Hattie's Stories".

As we remember 911, the memories are fresh. Capture them.  Ten years from now they may have faded or forever lost.
