Legacy Walls

If Walls Could Talk!!! – They Can!! They can tell your story all day, every day to everyone!

Legacy Walls provide visual inspiration and motivation by presenting a pictorial account of people we can relate to while learning about their historical relevance. The Legacy wall serves as a daily reminder of the role history plays in making future dreams more real. We honor those who have come before us for showing us that anything is possible. The larger than life “Wall” provides an account of the school’s namesake, past educators, past students, and past community advocates who have walked the halls and have had or are well on their way to having an impact on the school and surrounding community.

Jaime Gerding – Principal Booker T. Washington Elementary – Lead Principal for Elementary Schools

I was looking for a way to teach our students about the rich history of our school while we were in the process of beautifying our campus.  When I met Ms. Odom and heard her story, I knew I had found exactly what I was looking for.  I had no idea that the finished project would be beyond anything I could have imagined.  Our history wall is now a mirror of the past for the students and community members, and a window of possibilities for our current students.  The wall has provided links to the community, connections to our families, and history lessons for our staff and students.  None of that would have been possible without the vision, talent and skill of Ms. Odom.  The impact of the wall is more than we could have hoped for and we are already working on our next installment.  It is truly the best investment we made to help students understand the history that they are now connected to as they walk the halls of our school on a daily basis.”
